Holy Smokes! I hope you know I meant “old’ in the very not chronological sense. Just meant “mums” are old since to our kids we’re ancient no matter our age. I’m fully aware that I could also be your mother. ๐ x
@I’m So Fancy, heheh. gotcha!!! ๐ I just thought it was funny because the guy was my age ๐
I only moved the post down to where it should have been so people would see the video (which tells a great deal about us) instead of any update from last summer ๐
I’m a wheelchair mommy too! I had a spinal cord tumor in 1984 when I was just 8 months old. I have partial lower body paralysis as my injury is T 1-6. I got married in 2009 and my husband and I have a son, Logan, who is 6 months old.
I love your blog, and I love how you tell it like it is. I think you and I have the exact same outlook on life with a wheelchair. I have people ask me how I do things all the time… and my answer is that I just do it. Using a wheelchair is the only life I know, so nothing I do seems weird or out of the ordinary to me.
When I was pregnant I constantly had people assuming that I was in the chair because I was supposed to be on bed rest. I would just say, “Nope! Just can’t walk!”
I’m so glad that I found your blog from Scary Mommy. I’ve seen a few other blogs written by women in chairs, but they’re all too inspirational, or corny, or the women are busy feeling sorry for themselves etc. Yours is perfect. I will definitely be a regular reader from now on!
@Katie, Hi!! It’s REALLY nice to meet you. Wow. 8 months old!! That really is amazing. I never had anyone ask about bed rest, that’s a new one. ๐
Like it makes a difference? They’d see if they were in it that it’s almost if not more work to push a chair around, haha.
I really don’t like when someone feels sorry for themselves or tries to hard to “inspire”. The best way to inspire is to LIVE and show that living can still be wonderful ๐
Hugs. I look forward to getting to know you and hope to see you around.
