The last week my husband has been home. It’s been great. I’ve loved almost every minute of it.
This week has also been quite exhausting. My sweet tiny boy isn’t really sleeping. I think he’s teething. Maybe he just has allergies.
Look at this sad little face. You can tell he doesn’t feel well.
I want to think it’s teeth. The orajel seems to make it better. We’ve been so fortunate to have little ones that usually sleep well and this is just dragging on a bit longer than I remember. I am sure it’s probably quite similar to how it was the other two times. Hopefully the new year brings new teeth.
Potty training. No, we are not potty training Nathan. Yet. We are still working on Lucas. He’s close. He’s doing great. He’s not there yet. He’s wearing underwear at home. NO PANTS. Pants seem to backfire and we have accidents. Pooping is totally hit or miss. He’s even run to get a pull up and pooped in it. He doesn’t want to ruin his underwear but he doesn’t want to poop in the potty either.
We even made this:
(made with long discontinued Laura Bansiak digital scrap goodies)
It’s starting to work. We just need to be consistent and loving. I am pretty sure Will was on of those rare overnight kids that trained instantly. Lucas is not. That’s ok. Lucas has more patience overall with life so I shouldn’t be complaining. I’ll keep you posted. I’m sure you are eager to know the continued success (and failures) of my son’s pooping matters.

Rachel was so hesitant to poop in the potty. She would say she had to go, sit there, tell me it was gone, then immediately poop in her pants when she went back to play. Then one day I was at Heidi’s house to drop something off and chat for a bit, she said she had to go potty, and she actually went #2, which was amazing because she’s apprehensive about even going #1 without her little potty seat. But it must have given her some confidence because she hasn’t had an accident since!

Pricilla, I feel for you. I had three pretty good sleepers and then the fourth………….he was terrible!!! I truely believe that sleeping long periods at night is develpmental. Babies tend to have restless sleep cycles when they are going to master something develpmentally. Teething.. oh how I disliked that phase that seemed like forever and those molars, that had to be the worst.
Potty training, a great idea on the bag! I don’t have enough fingers to count on how many kiddos I potty trained when I ran my own daycare. Is there a specific time that he poops, or is it just whenever? I used to keep a treat jar in the bathrrom and if they went pee in the potty they got one treat and if they did poopy they got two treats. I also gave a treat if the had dry and no poopy in their pants because that is what you are aiming for. Did the timer on the oven and played it like a game and then went longer and longer in between timer going off.
You can always look at, Lucas won’t be going to kindergarten in diapers and with Nathan….. this too shall pass. Saver those days because they pass by very quickly.
