So many parents worry about their kids staring and pointing at people that are different.
People in chairs.
People with purple hair.
People that are REALLY tall, REALLY fat, really short or REALLY skinny.
Kids, stare.
My kids stare & point, too.
EVEN at people in chairs!!
It’s as if they are seeing a wheelchair for the first time.
They ask the SAME questions your kids do.
Why is he in there?
Why isn’t he walking?
So, when your kids POINT or stare, politely let them no it isn’t POLITE but they are welcome to ask that person if they really want to know.
I promise we don’t bite and we love to explain to kids why we are in a chair.
It’s the only way they will see that we are nornal, too!
(Of course, I wouldn’t ask someone why they are fat, so use common sense!!)

Thank you for posting this. You’ve just saved me from embarrassing myself or making other people feel horrible by not allowing my daughter to ask questions. She’s only 3 so hasn’t started noticing (or at least voicing) differences between people yet but I expect it’s coming. We’re working on the pointing thing but not making much progress.
