I’m just now getting around to writing about our trip to Seaworld. That’s how I roll. It’s only been 3 weeks and it’s not like I had a deadline, so here goes.
We had a blast and wish to send many thanks to the people at Chevy.
Charlie is supposed to be writing the review for THAT but I will say I am NOT selling my paid off, low mileage minivan to actually pay money for something that is smaller and more difficult to get into, and I am NOT giving up sliding doors. Yet. Maybe down the road, when the boys are older and I can’t get over my love affair with Mercedes that easily. The chevy was VERY nice, though. The boys loved the DVD system. Somehow it was better than having their very own ipads. I’m not sure I understand.
Chevy set us up in a nice hotel near the park and we had 2 nights to stay up late and enjoy not having to make our beds.
Seaworld was a blast.
It was my first time.
Yes, I am 31 and I have lived in Texas my ENTIRE life and I just now got around to going to Seaworld. Get over it. I was a Fiesta Texas a Schliterbauhn kid. What can I say?!
My biggest complaint? Yes, the tickets were free so I shouldn’t complain but I’m going to anyways.
The park opened at 10. We got there at 10:15.
My biggest complaint is not getting the tickets BEFORE we went. It would have been easy enough to give us our passes when they gave us the Zoo passes, but we had to wait in line for almost an HOUR. YES, we were in line for almost ONE FULL HOUR in the guest services line with 3 kids. NOT. FUN.
Oh and my phone didn’t charge the night before so I didn’t get very many pictures. ACK!
Once we got in we headed over the paid events line and bought tickets to Dine with Shamu. That was awesome and the best part was that Lucas was free. He was still 3 for 18 more hours and 3 is still 3!! Yay. Those pictures are on Charlie’s phone.
We had a little time to spare before we had to get in line to eat so we went and fed the dolphins.
After that we looked at the sharks and then headed to the other side of the park so we could eat with the STAR OR SEAWORLD! If it is your family’s budget, I highly recommend doing this. I want to do it again!
We stuffed ourselves silly and then I took Lucas to the VERY loud “Elmo park” while Charlie and Will headed off to ride a water ride. They even paid the $15 extra (each) to get to the front of the line on all the rides!! Why not? It was free to get in so why not pay extra to be VIP?
Well, because it was a water ride, Charlie left his phone and wallet with me.
See where this is going…?
It was crowded and I had the stroller, baby in my lap and wild Lucas running everywhere with 100 other kids in the mix. It was not fun. I was trying to avoid getting wet because I had all the phones; that was a moot point. Somehow I heard my phone ring.
“Hi, my name is Mike (? I think that’s what he said) and you don’t know me, but …. (oh, crap… ) I’m at Seaworld and everyone’s ok, but your husband and Son (heart starts racing….) were on a ride with me and your son was hit in the head. They are headed to first aide by SHamu ”
(UPHILL…..ACROSS THE PARK!!!!!!)
I thank him and hang up. I yell for lucas to follow me and spot a security guard and beg him to help me uphill to Shamu. I’m panicking. Hit his head? Oh, dear. How? Wha???????
We get there and I see this: (add in lots more blood because they hadn’t wiped him down yet)
They are asked by 3 different people what happened and we determined that we have absolutely no idea what or how he got the cut. He likely didn’t hit his head but something hit HIM…we just have no idea what. We assume it was something in the front row that flew back (apparently paying $15 to go to the front of the line means you CAN NOT ride in the front).
We got a free shirt out of the deal. The one he wore was covered in blood. (yes it came out)
They were willing to give us a pass to come back but we would have to leave, we opted not to.
After this we saw two more shows (sea lion and Shamu’s one world) and then called it a day. I was very bummed that the Shamu show didn’t have any “wet zone” handicapped seating. IT was all way up high where you had to watch the screen to see things clearly. NOT set up very well. 🙁
Charlie went off to ride a ride (or 2) during one of the rides and we had to wait for him to get back. Will was not up for anymore rides so he stayed with me and the littles.
We miscommunicated. He said two, I heard one. or He said one and thought he said two. Anyways, we were very concerned something happened to HIM because it took so long for him to get back. He’s decided that roller coasters are not as fun as they used to be.
Here is a shot from the Sea Lion Show:
And later that night, after a moonlight swim (and a poolside glass of wine for mommy and a beer for daddy!) …I would say that my babies had fun. Lucas did not want to let go of his Shamu!
We did have fun and we will go back. We missed the opening of Aquatica, by one week so we MUST go back. 😉
Thank you to Chevy, Seaworld and Courtyard Marriot for our free trip. We are thankful for the little mini vacation. The one week Traverse rental, and 2 nights in the hotel were free. The review is my honest opinion. We also received Zoo tickets and a GC to eat at a reatuarant. We saved both for a later trip!

I can’t believe I haven’t read about this yet!! How fun, but ouch for Lucas…poor guy! That had to be a nerve wrecking conversation at the beginning. Jeez!
And for the record, I am 30, lived in TX my whole life, and have never been to Sea World either. Jered went when Logan was born with my dad and had a blast though. He still talks about it, and enjoys writing about it in class sometimes.
So glad overall you all had a great little family vacation. You definitely deserve it!
