Port Aransas – Spring Break 2013
We had a fabulous time and stayed in a darling little condo called The Sandy Turtle. Thank you Kelly for the recommendation.
I enjoyed coffee on the patio.
I FROZE while the boys played in the water. This is NO joke. I was in my swimsuit but wrapped in a bleach blanket and I was STILL freezing.
I enjoyed lots of delicious gulf shrimp here and here.
Beaches had a bit of an Austin meets Port A vibe so it helped us feel right at home.
While we were dining on the marina, we chatted with a retired couple who reminisced about the days they brought their young children to the beach. They made it a tradition every year. We are considering the same thing.
Will discovered that he loves black drum. We’d never even heard of it before. He ate it twice.
We even ate pizza. Shame on us. (It was REALLY VERY GOOD.)
Will also LOVES boogy boarding, eventually he wants to try to learn to surf.
Lucas only liked to do it in the pool. He doesn’t like waves, as we discovered while we were at Sea World. Will would get in during the waves and Lucas would get out. Lucas would get in while it was calm and Will would be bored. Opposites, indeed.
I’m proud of him for trying it anyways.
We plan to go back when it’s warm and are even toying with the idea of finding a way to spend MORE time down there.
Packing Tip: Bring Baby powder – it really works to remove the sand!
We stopped at mom and pop candy shoppe and the boys visited a little tiny snake.Make sure to try the buttered popcorn saltwater taffy. It was awesome. Trust me. Oh, and Lucas was not as scared as he looks in this picture. It’s just one of those shots were it humorously portrays the situation into something it’s really not. In fact WILLIAM was being goofy and acting scared. The camera just caught the boys at the “right” time.
Need a beach wheelchair?
If you need a beach wheelchair, you can rent one for free at the IB Magee Beach Park, BUT you must stay on THAT section of the beach. Just an FYI. No one else on the Island has one. We opted just to have my husband carry me to a beach lounge chair near the water. We may change our mind if we go back later in the season when the weather is warmer and I actually wish to move about and get in the water. I was content to sit and freeze while reading a book.
In conclusion, the blog is long overdue for new pictures of the boys, so here are updated pictures of my big boys. I’ll be updating on my family page as well.

Did you find beach wheel chairs for rent?
Priscilla says
You can get a beach chair at IB MAGEE, but you have to stay on their beach so we’ve never used one.

I honestly don’t know. I’ve never been to Rockport. It’s about 50 miles from Port Aransas! I wish I could help more,
