In 2007/2008 I attempted a self portrait 365 project. That was long before pinterest and I had Kate Crafton to think. She is an amazing photographer that i “knew” through message boards.
Anyways, I received a bit of flack for it and was called narcissistic and other names that weren’t very nice, so i quit.
However, now that I have 3 boys instead of 1.5, I think it’s even more important to have pictures of myself.
I also have come to realize that I need to take more pictures of my husband. He’s always working and only around on the weekends so by default he’s not in nearly enough pictures.
We will get to that another day.
Anyways, I decided to scale back on my newest attempt and only take 52 pictures.
If you are curious, you can see the pictures here . <<<—–
Despite “failing” to take 365 pictures, looking back 5-6 years later, I think the project was a huge success.

I enjoyed the 365 I also did in 2007-08, it honestly is the only batch of pictures of me that I have. I rarely am in pictures and that was a kid ago as well. It was never a narcissistic endeavor, it was a mental one for me to get over my picture phobia. And honestly? I need to work on it again because I’ve faded out of pictures since that time. As the kids get older I’ve realized that I need to be in the pictures with them or at least have some of me for their memories not just mine. I love seeing old pictures of my parents, and I have to make the effort for my kids to look back at us even if i don’t like the pictures or me in them.

Neat! You were far more successful than I was whenever I try to do 365. 🙂
