I just discovered coconut oil coffee.
Let me give you a little background information. I have gained about 10 pounds in the last year. I’m slowly trying to change my diet so as not to actually DIET but make an entire lifestyle change. I’ve started drinking protein shakes when I don’t have time for breakfast or lunch; sometimes it makes a great snack.
I also want to reduce my sugar and dairy intake, but not completely eliminate it; at least not yet. While searching for sugar alternative ideas, I decide to do a search for Coconut Oil Coffee and see if anyone used that to sweeten their Cup O’ Joe. Lo and behold it’s a “Thing”.
It may seem counter intuitive to use something as fattening as coconut oil in your coffee, but like avocado (which I do NOT LIKE) it’s a good fat that your body needs. So I’ve read.
Let me start by saying I am beyond thrilled that I found out others were doing this and even happy that I read their tips first. It turns out that you need to BLEND it into your coffee or you will have a greasy mess.
So how does it it taste?! AHHHHMAZING.
It’s my new favorite.
Here is what I did
1 cup of hot brewed coffee
1 teaspoon – 1 tablespoon of coconut oil (find your personal preference)
Put in blender. Blend about 30 seconds.
I have plans to buy a magic bullet now, just for this.
I will continue to research this and make sure it’s indeed healthy but for now I’m sold! Goodbye 1/2 & 1/2 and sugar!
Have you tried coconut oil coffee?
How do you like your coffee.

What a fantastic idea! I’ve tried putting the oil straight into my coffee and yes it is greasy! So I was wondering do you blend the oil with the coffee grounds or the brewed coffee? What ratio of oil to coffee do you use?
