This has been an abnormal week, and I am glad it’s over. I hate to rush life but some days are just …. more stressful than others.

Election Day. Election day was on Tuesday. We had one very heated Bond on our local ballot. I’m not joking when I say how divided this made our city. It was crazy. There was a group of us that were seriously about to quit the internet. That being said, the bond did not pass so maybe we can all get along and find a more reasonable solution.
I’m truly scared of how crazy everyone will become during the presidential election next year.

William and Charlie both have eye doctor appointments today. Will thinks his vision has changed from last year, he said his eyes have been blurry even with his glasses. I don’t think I can remember the last time Charlie went to the eye doctor. I guess we will see. Let’s hope for NO change. We are at least using the optomap so they can track any changes. My mom has a history of glaucoma and cataracts, so vision problems scare me. Not to mention our problems with Nathan.

Lucas was sick for 3 days. Just a fever. No other symptoms. It was a different dynamic having him home from school. I kept fighting my own little battle to take him to the doctor – or not.
Surely it was just viral and we would have to wait it out anyways. I hate when kids are sick and have NO other symptoms. Nathan had something similar last week. Charlie took him to the doctor and I felt like an idiot. He had been tugging on his ear and rubbing his throat. Of course I thought it was something major.
Speaking of everyone getting sick. I think we need to get flu shots ASAP. Please hold so I check when the next flu clinic is RIGHT THIS MINUTE.

The latest on my step dad is not very good. His cancer continues to spread and he feels more and more miserable every day. I wish I could take the pain and fear away. I’m so scared for him. There isn’t much they can do at this point. We just wait. I do not look forward to the day I have to deliver bad news to my boys. Especially Lucas. He worships the ground Leon walks on.

Let’s talk about my eating habits. Oh dear. They are so terrible. I try and I try to eat healthy and then I don’t. My current diet is that of a 10 year old boy. I’m serious. I can not give up white bread. And chocolate? It’s really sad.
I am going to take baby steps to change things. First up is water. I must drink more water. I don’t drink much in the way of soda, so I’m not trying to replace what I drink. I just need to drink. I’m probably dehydrated on a regular basis.
Second is alcohol. Charlie and I got in a terrible habit of drinking a glass of wine (or two) before bed. We have already made the switch to a nightly tea so that’s a push in the right direction.

I am so sorry about your step dad. I lost my dad and then my best friend 4-weeks later last year. In April my stepson was given six-months. We are staying in faith and hoping for a miracle. I hate cancer!
We had a few contentious races here on Tuesday too. I am already sick of the presidential election.
Have a great weekend!

1) I try very hard to stay out of any political arena so I don’t even know what the recent hubbub was regarding the bond.
2) Those glasses look great on Will!
3) Don’t you hate it when the kids get sick? It’s always a guessing game as to whether they actually need to see the doctor given that sometimes the doc can’t do anything about it anyway.
4) I’m sorry to hear about your step-father. 🙁
5) Ahhh eating habits. Don’t even get me started with Halloween just over and Thanksgiving and Christmas just around the corner. A glass of wine or two a night isn’t bad for you though. It’s the tannins that are good so whether you get them in wine or tea, it’s good for you.
