Oh, my gosh, how is it Friday already?! This week just flew by. It’s been an emotional roller coaster. I’m not sure if I want to stay on or get off.
- Wednesday, Our second day of school was, well. Not. At least not for Will. He came home on Tuesday complain that his ear hurt a little and the throat that was scratchy was starting to hurt. He did not mention it again until bedtime and he was in tears. We made an appointment first thing the next AM. He had an ear infection AND strep throat. UGH. Great start to our new PUBLIC school year.
- We had a new door panel installed on our rental house. The previous one was broken several years back but it wasn’t shedding glass. IT started to do that and our new tenants asked kindly if we would replace it. It’s GORGEOUS now and I can’t wait until we install it in the house we live in.
- Remember when I said we were going to hire a housekeeper/nanny? Well, that’s our too. In fact that’s partly what lead us to our PUBLIC school decision. It was going to be a stretch to hire her and I really didn’t want to be THAT strapped. Boo. Maybe some day we will be able to hire someone. I really wanted this lady though. I hope we didn’t burn any bridges. All that being said….now that the boys are in school I have no real need for her.
- It’s so quiet in my house. I kinda like it and I kinda hate it. I’m so conflicted on this. I really am. I’m sure you will suffer through my emotions as I learn to “let it go” and send the big boys off EVERY. SINGLE. MORNING.
- I was so sad to see our vacation end. It was an…. interesting vacation and I will fill you in on all the details next week. I fully intended to do that this week but we had a slight change of plans with school and all.

One day, when I was in the midst of a glorious career, I went to pick up my three kids from the baby sitter – and could not remember which place had them! Right there, I knew we needed to hire someone to be at home when I could not be. That’s how Hettle came into our lives. She had moved here from Jamaica at the age of 65 as she wanted to care for a family with 3 children. She applied, we fell in love with her but she accepted another job. I begged her to keep my number, just in case. Within a week, the other job did not work out and she became a part of our family. She was with us for 13 years and became the core of our spiritual life, joy and fun. We were SO blessed with this wonderful woman in our lives. I wish you the same. What a difference it makes.

kids going back to school – Is it just that moms are more emotional about events like that? Now the bigger events like graduation, going to college, weddings, yeah those can jerk a tear from me. But a normal back to school event – I just think of the money involved.

That door is beautiful!! I bet it’s gorgous on the house! I’m sure the quiet house is hard. My is quiet when the little one naps now and it’s such a weird feeling. I hope you can hire help soon – I’m sure it will make a difference! Hope your little guy feels better soon – it’s no fun to be sick anytime but especially no the first week of school!

We are not hiring help. We don’t need to now that the big boys are in school. 🙂

You totally rock then – my big ones are in school and I’m drowning!! How can they go through so much laundry and wreck a room so quickly!

It’s pretty incredible isn’t it?! Ha. I guess now that they are gone, I don’t have to focus on tending to them all day and I can focus on the house and the one remaining kiddo!! 🙂

That front door is fantastic. I’m sorry to hear your son is sick. I hope he feels better soon. We’re dealing with illness around here too. Not a very fun start to the school year.
