I attended the Houston abilities expo last weekend and it was an absolute blast. I was representing Backbones with my dear friend Katie. I was also able to visit with my friend Sunday on Sunday. We met at my local Target a several years back but she doesn’t live nearby and then we saw each other again a couple of years ago and finally became FB friends.
We met several years ago via our blogs, but this was the first time we met in person. It was like weve been friends forever. There was not a moment of awkwardness. We are both wheelchair mommies. She just had her 13th anniversary. My 16th is coming up. Times really flies.
I met so many fabulous people and made wonderful connections that I hope Backbones can form last relationships with. If your not familiar with Backbones, in short, we connect new spinal cord injuries and disabilities with veteran spinal cord injuries and disabilities. It’s always good to have a “big brother or sister” to answer questions about how to cope with your new normal and whats to come and how to reconnect with the community.
I also decided my next chair must be a Colours. Ernie is a rock star and did my fitting. He’s been in a chair for over 20 years. Thanks Autie for letting me try out your ride for a better width comparison. I’ll be a good girl and work on my wheelies. Soon….
I also want to give a shout out to the Whill guys. That is one AWESOME chair. I might need it in about 25 years. Thanks Katie for filing :).
