I want to say Thank you to Proflowers the beautiful bouquet of flowers (my boys helped me pick them!) and the inspiration for this #savingsummer post. The only payment for this post was the lovely flowers.
It’s officially fall, which means it’s time to reminisce about my summer. I’m a dweller. I dwell on what I should have done or could have done instead of just living in the moment. It’s a terrible habit. When ProFlowers asked me if I could write about #savingsummer it was an easy yes.
The beginning of summer held so much uncertainty for us. Would we continue to homeschool or would we open a new chapter with public school ?
Looking back I’m certain I treated our summer as if we were homeschooling. That’s my hearts desire, of course. Sadly sometimes what we desire the most is not what’s best and that became very clear to our family.
We held off until the last minute, just to make sure.
As the saying goes hindsight is 20/20 and what I wouldn’t give for a “last summer” re-do. What I mean by last summer, is it was our last summer as a homeschool family.
What I wouldn’t give to hold onto summer just a little longer.
We had planned a Grand Canyon vacation but we put off -intending to do it this month. We wanted to avoid the crowds. That was one of the reasons we homeschooled in the first place, to have family time during the off-season.
Sure we can always load up our camper next summer but I would love to go back and #saveSummer for just a little longer.
I would love to have my boys with me, all day, every day again! I miss them terribly.
Luckily Will is loving public-school more than he ever imagined he would. He originally begged me to keep him home and it broke my heart. He is finding that his fifth grade teachers and classmate are giving him everything I did at home plus so much more.
Lucas? This poor sweet boy is still struggling. Against my better judgement, he begged me to let him go to school, too! He loved it at first but he struggles so much with his reading and his writing. He is starting to get frustrated. I’m not sure what we are going to do. I am just happy to live in Texas where the choice is mine and mine alone.
So…. how are you #savingsummer? Is there something you regret NOT doing during those hot summer months!?

I love Proflowers! As for the summer – I always have so many plans and it seems so few get done. Amazing how fast it goes by. Hoping to make up for it this fall.

((Hugs)) to you Momma. Decisions like these aren’t easy, and no matter what you are gonna ‘what if’ yourself. I’m glad you got some flowers to brighten your day!

Those flowers are beautiful! I don’t have anything that I regret not doing this summer. But I do wish I would have been able to spend more time with my little one splashing in the pool. I was studying to get my teacher certification, so that put a little damper on things…but at least I get ALL next summer off!

aww the flowers are beautiful! There are so many things I would like to hang on to this year. Things I’m just not ready to let be “just memories” yet. If only we could freeze time to hold on to the important moments….just a little while longer

We purchase an ORV pass each year to our favorite beach. In the past we have made it a point to go each weekend. This year unfortunately we were not able to do so so that is my regret for the summer.
