We took a trip to Shiner this passed weekend. My nephew and his wife were in town so we try to visit whenever they do, otherwise we really don’t get to see them. Our boys always enjoy playing at the park when we hang out.
The park has not changed much since I was little. I still remember playing there myself so it’s a full circle seeing my boys play there.
I finally tried the strawberry beer that Shiner introduced for the summer season. It was okay but I think I will have to pass.
It was good to see my step-dad. He looks miserable. I can’t imagine how he feels. Mom is hanging in there. It’s taking a toll on both of them.
We decided to leave the Pop-up so we can go visit for often and more easily.
My sister’s dog had puppies so Will played with them while Lucas looked on from afar. My poor boy and his allergies.
We also brought the canon and the Mosin-Nagant. (I thought it was Lagant until I looked up how to spell it. Oops!) My mom’s house is one of the only places we can go to shoot it because she is outside of the city limits. Prior to Will’s research we had never even heard of this collector’s gun. It’s a beautiful Russian antique. Who would have ever thought one could refer to a gun as beautiful but this one really is.
Speaking of memories… I found this old photo. I was about the same age Nathan is now. I remember this day very well. It’s not my earliest memory but it’s probably pretty close. My sister Susan is on the far left, Lisa is in the middle and Karen is on the right. I’m the little squirt in the front. We have another shot with my sister Cindy (she’s taking the picture) but mom didn’t have that one. Lisa is my sister that died of an aneurysm the following fall.
