I partnered with Stonyfield again this month and a fun company called YayLabs joined in the fun.
Yay Labs makes SoftShell Ice Cream Balls and we made a delicious, simple Vanilla ice cream. It was the best ice cream I have ever had. Who knew? I think the simplicity made it delicious. Store-bought ice creams are so full of crap.
So how did we go about making ice cream in a ball, you may ask?! It was super easy and “a ball of fun”.
I kinda cheated (sorry stonyfield!). I was supposed to make it healthy and use yogurt but I decided to make sure it worked with cream first. I knew if anything went wrong the boys would NEVER try it again so REAL ice CREAM was the safe bet.
We will have plenty of opportunity to make healthy treats and my boys practically live on stonyfield yogurt so a little fatty cream won’t hurt them.
We put the cream, sugar and vanilla in one end and the ice and rock salt in the other.
Charlie and the boys started playing while I made dinner.
We made ONE mistake. We didn’t read ALL The directions before we started and we missed the part about stirring have way through to get the ice cream off the sides. We ended up with an EXTRA thick concoction of goodness but that did not stop everyone from enjoying the end results. My tacos almost went unnoticed.
My boys keep asking when we are making more. They absolutley loved it. Oh and there was a little leftover that we froze and I used for a rootbeer float a few days later. It was still delicious and just as fresh as the day we made it.
This is the coolest ice cream maker I have ever seen! I need one, because I feel so lost since we can’t get Blue Bell. I need to go buy this today!
I know!! I am so lost without Blue Bell too!!
We have an ice cream ball somewhere in our basement. Thanks for the great recipe as I will go search for it.

Such a great way to make food fun! I love that you can make your dessert as a family while the meal cooks, you could even take it camping with a little bit of preparation 🙂
