Is it really truly Friday? Please! Say it ain’t so! It seems like the week just started and we still have so much to do.
Boy Scouts
William had his FIRST meeting as a Boy Scout. Charlie was was able to snap a few pictures of the neckerchief ceremony. He leaves tonight for his first campout without us and I must say I’m excited and nervous all at the same time. I guess as he gets older I’m going to have more and more of these moments.
Homeschool Co-op
We registered for our Co-Op this week. It will be exciting to meet so many new people. I am so happy there will be a few familiar faces, too!
I always find it funny when the first thing people mention when they find out you homeschool is socialization. When we homeschool we are home far less than we are In public school.
Our kids are actually socializing with wide range of children and not just sitting in a classroom for seven hours.
TKD
Nathan FINALLY took TaeKwonDO. Every time I’ve asked in the past he promptly said no.
Enter “A”. Two weeks ago one of the classrooms was empty so She gave him a sample class and he’s been begging to take a real class.
William
William had his mock STAAR reading test today. He said he finished in about an hour which gave him three hours to enjoy whichever Lord of the Rings book he is currently reading.
It’s really fun to see him interact with his friends. He truly has enjoyed his public school experience. I think it’s really been good for him. It’s definitely not the socialization but the competition aspect that he’s really thriving on.
The Highlight of my night? During science night the art teacher told me what a wonderful Young man I have. She told me how he was so helpful to her during his time on the student council , often skipping recess to help her and even training the incoming student Council!
Science night
We went and checked out all the science experiments at Science Night. There was an extra credit incentive so of course we made an appearance!
William did his project on how quickly different liquids evaporate. It took an entire week charting. He chose not to do a poster and turn the project in for judging.
He just turned the work in for a grade.
Of course there was much more than just science fair projects. There were animals and mini science projects and fossils and astronomy! There was enough to keep us busy for a couple of hours!
