Wound Update
I saw the wound care doctor last Thursday and she said even though it was healing slowly, everything looked beautiful and healthy and pink but she still wanted to do a swab to see if anything grew. She said sometimes we might still have an infection but not show any outward signs.
Guess who’s back on antibiotics for two weeks because they still found strep???
We Also started the wound VAC on Tuesday.
If you are new here or missed the original post, The strep is infecting skin tissue – the doctor thought I had an abscess, Took me into surgery and went to cut it out – they couldn’t find the access, ran cultures and found strep.
So now I have an open wound (it’s not a sitting induced pressure sore) because they couldn’t close it… This has Been going on since April 11 ?.
Will and School
I can’t believe it’s almost summer! This week William performed in a Shakespeare play and he had his fifth grade award ceremony and slideshow. I missed it but his teachers is going to send it to me so I can still see it.
Lucas and School
Lucas and I have been on a modified schedule since the middle of March and will continue that throughout the summer.
We only have a couple of things left to do in math. We are pretty much finished with science except for one last rain forest unit study from Moving Beyond the Page. I would also like to finish reading our ancients history book (Story of the World) before we move onto medieval history in the fall.
I really want to keep focusing on building his reading skills. He has improved tremendously. He still likes to add letters and make up words that he thinks should be there! I think he’s just rushing too much.
Boy Scouts
Lucas had Cub Scout Rank advancement last night. He is now a bear! His Cub Scout time is Flying by! We had to miss the ceremony though! Charlie had to work late and my wound vac makes unpredictable farting noises when it doesn’t sound like coffee percolating.
William isn’t making it to many Boy Scout meetings. Our spring has been a nightmare. He’s not too worried. He will catch up at summer camp.
