I’m going to try my best to stick to a very specific schedule this year for consistency.
I hear readers like that.
My schedule will be as follows:
Monday- weekend wrap up
Tuesday- self-portrait challenge/whatever story goes with it
Wednesday- Stylish gimp
Thursday-anything that requires its own day or a sponsored post/sometimes nothing
Friday-Friday fragments
Wrap-up
Wow. Our Christmas break flew by!! I can’t believe it’s almost over.
Charlie heads back to work tomorrow and both kids are going back to school. Lucas decided on New Year’s eve that he wanted to go back after all. . . hes just less than thrilled there are 5 months left of 6 am wakeup calls.
Our christmas was very low key, as usual, but we had a delicious fried turkey dinner and I made a chocolate silk pie.
Charlie finally fixed the lawnmower and he was reassembling it when a very important’s screw broke in half – so the project has been tabled until he can get around to it. I asked him not to spend anymore time on it during his time off.
Star Wars
We spent several days on a Star Wars marathon so we could all go watch the force awakens. I took Lucas for the noon showing on Tuesday and Charlie took Will for the 7 PM showing. Our theater has five dollar Tuesday so it worked out really well for us!
We finally rearranged the shelving and rods in my closet so I could have double hanging inside of single hanging. When we moved into this house my closet was slightly bigger but I’ve had less clothing space because of the Layout. I will do it to full post about it on Wednesday.
A new bowling alley video game arcade and laser tag place open nearby so we finally took the boys to check it out. We all had an absolute blast and Nathan was actually tall enough to play laser tag with his daddy and brothers. He looked so proud! We also found out they have a school holiday special that allows you to play unlimited everything for $15 from 9 AM to 1 PM so Charlie took the big boys back again on Thursday. While They were shooting laser beams at each other Nathan and I stayed home and played all sorts of stuff! He Kept bouncing from one activity to the other!
This was the first year we didn’t just sit home and drink champagne alone for New Year’s eve. We headed out with our neighbors for a (kid friendly) New Year’s eve stroll.
Saturday we headed to Shiner for Alison’s baby shower. She’s due at the end of January with the little boy. Her little girl is going to make such a good big sister!
It was nice to get in a quick visit with Mom and Leon too. He’s been feeling absolutely awful as the cancer continues to spread and grow. He is supposed be reaching out to hospice so they can start coming in to to help him manage the pain.
We had “the talk” with Lucas so he’s not taken by surprise when inevitably the cancer wins. Will Already knows and I’m just not sure what to say to Nathan, with him being so young… Will was almost 4 when my mother-in-law died and he understood more than we thought he would..
On the bright side we found a great place to eat.
The remainder of our “vacation”
Let’s just say that Sunday sucked and leave it at that.
William has his well check on Monday and we will close out our holiday vacation with the den meeting Monday night.
It’s funny how when these vacations start, it doesn’t seem like they’re going to be long enough but by the time you get to the end there is no way everyone can spend another minute together while you simultaneously have regret and wish you could do it all over again but better and more loving….
