When I left the hospital almost 17 years ago we ate at Gaido’s before leaving the Island. My mom, my dad, my step mom and a bunch of other people were in our dinner party. We were seated at a BIG round table so there must have been others. I can’t remember who all was there.
I do know a terrible storm came in and my dad could not get my foot rests on correctly. It was quite the ordeal and when we finally made it inside, we were soaked.
The food was amazing and I have always waned to go back.
We finally went back. Our hostess was HORRIBLE to us and other parties. We almost left.
I’m really happy we stayed. Our waiter was amazing and saved the day. The food was every bit as good as I remembered.
We went with Traci and Dave to see the short film on the Great Storm. It was every bit as sad as I remember.
They talked about a few gruesome details that I had forgotten about. The kids didn’t seem to notice.
Traci and I were definitely grimacing, bracing ourselves for questions but the kids seemed to take the information at face value. It was a disaster and they did what they had to.
She did mention that MAYBE it wasn’t the best film to watch just before closing on a house on the island.
I also had the privilege of eating lunch with these two ladies.
They were both on my therapy team nearly 17 years ago and I have not seen them since I left in October 1999.
Sure, we are friends on Facebook, but that’s not the same as seeing someone face to face.
