We had a pretty busy weekend with Pinewood Derby! We’ve helped with this event for many years.
Friday night we were out the church for setup from 6pm-10pm. Our kids were such troopers. We came home, managed a little sleep and were were back around 8:30 for last minute prep.
It was busy, loud, but fun. I think we finally left around 2. I think that’s a record. We are usually there until 3-4. Lucas did not win overall but he won a few heats and he had a blast so he didn’t mind.
Nathan entered the outlaw race. He was supposed to check his car in Friday night with all the other cars but he was no keen on the idea of leaving his car behind. He did get to participate in a few practice races, which he won, and after sleeping with his car on Friday night he was granted special permission to enter his car on Saturday. He did not win even one heat and he keeps insisting on a metal trophy. We are going to make on later today.
Lucas had the brilliant idea to make it shaped like a steering wheel! I’ll let you know how that goes.
We grabbed a quick lunch at chick-fil-a and headed home for a relaxing evening. Not to brag, but the weather in Texas has been just gorgeous. We had a high of 85 yesterday and I’m guessing it was close to that Saturday and today. I haven’t been outside yet, so I can’t say for sure!
We enjoyed some much needed downtime, with a glass of wine on the patio. The idea was for the kids to play while Charlie and I were just in the moment together, but with two little boys, you know how that goes. They wanted dad and they wanted him to ignore me. HA!
I did manage to sneak a selfie with this cutie!
William had a busy weekend. Charlie dropped him off on Friday evening and he went camping. Without us. He was with his new Boy Scout Troop. He packed his own bag and was completely responsible for himself for 2 nights. There was some adult supervision, of course.
He even had to remember to take his own medicine! The school nurse called on Friday to tell me she was sure he had an ear infection, so off to the doctor we had to go.
They plated trees and had a fabulous time. I think he really enjoyed it. He is off to a great start on earning his scout and tenderfoot rank. He did come home exhausted, though.
